ACK.. and a funny at the end..

The phone rang. I knew it was the school but they wouldn't talk to me. I knew what was going to happen. They would call the Kiddo's dad, he'd call me and I would have to go get her. I was fuming.. she has been good for so long. She stayed home last night and wasn't with her mother.. what on earth did she do to get kicked out of school?

I knew he'd call so I started to put my braces on.. well.. one. Before I could get done the phone rang and I was ready to tell him I'd go get her but waited politely to hear what she'd done wrong.. he even sounded upset. It was.. lice. Lice? My head has been itching the past few days. So has hers. I chalked it up to dry scalp because even my skin gets dry in this cold and itches.

In the meantime I lost the second leg brace. Joy.. poor child is at at school and itching and I can't find my shoes. The nurse did not call her mother.. she knew my son was upset and I figured that might be why. The mother, (this could be my imagination.) would suddenly take her from him because of lice.

It seems it has more to do with knowing how much this puts us out. Cleaning and combing her hair. Washing sheets on two beds.. in case I have it too but nobody can see anything. My son has always had dandruff so I couldn't tell if he had to worry about his kids. So while he was here he cut it almost all the way off. Then he has to go home to his house and do this all over there. Plus hope his roommate has tolerance for this.

It seems that he isn't concerned about the mother. As far as he knows, and timing suggests this to be very possible, she could have gotten them from her mother. She and her friends, if they get some crack skin problem they won't even know it.

Pause for a moment while I pick my jaw up off the ground. Oh, not like this is the first I've heard it suggested this was a possibility.. and keep in mind.. this is not something I have first hand knowledge of but I asked him why he lets her take the Kiddo if he suspects that

"Mom, you know from the last time, I have to have proof. All I have to do is refuse to let her see her and she'll come take her." I started to object but he knows me too well.. or we've walked down this path before. She only needs to get someone, anyone, to let her say she's living there. Or maybe even have the intention of trying to let her stay there. Yes, this happened last time only it was her other grandmother that bailed the mother out.. and the mother got to keep the Kiddo. I can't imagine having my hands so tied as his are right now.

But, I had to call him back... the Rid comes with a tube of gel for your hair. I left the room for a minute and came back and she's putting "lotion" on her hands and feet.. my husband was on the phone with me and heard only.. "HEY, that's not lotion!" He couldn't hear her say.. "But Grandma my hands are so soft!"

Lice or not.. tantrums and troubles.. I adore her.

Had To Post It..

Seems to me if you feel an overwhelming need to correct someone's spelling or more likely a typo that was missed, you MIGHT wish to check your own spelling?? I don't know but.. that was just a thought I had.

This was copy and pasted from the comment section of a news article. I made no changes to it. I just felt compelled to share it for the chuckles.

HEAD START

STEE LERS
ROCK !

My husband said he went to Home Depot in the short walk to get staples and back to the check out there must be 30 people with Steelers shirts on. This does not include the parking lot, another stop he made or those he passed on the street..

Is it game time yet?

No Way....

A coach is fired because he didn't ... well.. you read it. Girls Basketball Game.I'm just dumbfound. I know, nobody wants to lose that badly but we spend a lifetime telling the children to do their very best, not cheat.. and strive to be the best you can be.

Perhaps, as a coach, and I did coach six year olds in soccer. It wasn't always the winning that was important but the lessons learned. I'm just stupified that the coach got fired and I think it's wrong.

Admittedly, I would most likely have started to put second and third string if for no other reason than so they could play but apologize for a win like that? No.. get fired over a win like... seems wrong to me.

In life these girls will have wins and they will have failures. Sometimes HUGE failures. Isn't it best to let them endure those huge loses while they live at home with family that will hold a hand out in comfort? Life is hard, it sucks sometimes and if we protect them by buffering wins... what kind of message are we sending them?

I don't believe Christian belief should be involved in this. It's a basketball score not mass.. I wonder if the girls that lost feel the other team should have lightened up or did they learn that a loss, no matter how big or small is not life altering?? Did the girls that lost show more grace and dignity in the face of this loss than the people that fired a coach?

If so, then perhaps the girls are ahead of the game.

Baby Turns Two... He's STILL a baby to me!

I am... COLD!! Wind is blowing hard enough that I wonder if I shouldn't take the flag down. My daughter wants tme to go with her to get the baby's hair cut. Losely translated she wants me to pay for it.

He will be that magical age most mothers probably try to forget... Two! She wants to have a party for him at Chuckie Cheese and wanted to know if I could contribute some money to help pay for this.

I can't afford to take myself to Chuckie Cheese, not that I would with a bunch of kids running around to play games and eat pizza. Did it once, never again!! That place simply frightens me!

I pointed out to her that he's ... TWO! He won't remember if you took him to Chuckie Cheese, he won't remember the celebration of his birthday, in fact... he won't care. I know, mother of the year award for me, right?

She's aware that he won't remember it so I interjected.. "Then say it like it is, the party is for the adults in his life!"

Then she pointed out the argument I couldn't deny.. "He can still have fun." Yet it makes no sense to me to have a party like that when everyone is so broke. Add to it she'll want us to be there and she was going to hit her dad up for money and invite him. Uhm.. another reason to stay home. We are divorced for a reason.. actually we could do these things until he got married. Then, he seemed far less willing to make it easier for the kids and combine it. So, I figure she's not comfortable hanging around the ex wife.. I can understand and I'm okay with that.

I can't afford 70 bucks right now. I can't figure out how I'm going to pay my bills yet so a party for a two year old isn't high on my priority list. If she wanted to cut it down to family we could have a home made party here or better yet at her house, it is her son!

Of course she understandably doesn't want to have ten children plus parents at her apartment so she was going for Chucky Cheese. I say.. wait till he's older for that. That's my thought cause he'll still love her no matter what she does for him.

Just wait till he gets older though. We've never really been able to have a birthday party for her. Her birthday was the 12th of January and report cards come out about the this time... everyone was grounded for her birthday. Eventually I quit getting her excited cause she'd go to everyone's birthday with gift in hand and when hers came around she got... report cards!!

XBox Withdrawals

I know I should feel bad for him but my son was sitting here after work and looked so terribly .... bummed out!

I asked him what was wrong and I got the standard.. "nothing." He got the standard.. "are you sure?" To which there was a long sigh and he turned to me and said, "Mom, I'm BORED! I don't have anything to go home to."

I was trying not to giggle. He's missing his XBOX. We got him a new game for Christmas and he really has wanted to play it!! So, I would try not to laugh because I know I'd be the same way if I didn't have a computer.

Then he said to me his room mate and best friend told him he's taking this worse than his last break up. Okay, loving mother I may or may not be but I did giggle and said, "It's no wonder! You had the game to keep your mind occupied when she left you!"

I sure hope they fix it for him even with the faceplate having been removed.
